E-85 pump grants; Dr. Hans Kok resigning
Washington Ag Today April 19, 2010 Growth Energy in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy is offering grants of up to 15-thousand dollars for retailers to install blender pumps in the greater Seattle-Everett and Tacoma areas. Vice President of Market Development for Growth Energy, Phil Lampert, says ten grants could be awarded for E-85 or 85 percent ethanol pumps. Lampert: “We know that there are thousands of flexible fuel vehicles in that region of the state and unfortunately there is no E-85 there. So we want to kick start this infrastructure a little bit and as I saw we will provide a retailer up to $15,000 to help offset some of the costs.” Besides being the major metropolitan region of Washington, Lampert says there are also thousands of federal fleet vehicles in the area which are required to use alternative fuel if available. Lampert: “Once we put in the E-85 not only will John Q. Public be able to use it but the federal agencies that again are required by law and executive order will have a source for the fuel and obviously that will help the new retailer.” Interested retailers are encouraged to call 877-485-8595. Washington State University says Dr. Hans Kok is resigning his joint extension conservation tillage position with WSU and University of Idaho effective June 15th.
