British Columbia Guide Outfitters owner Mark Werner has deep, deep roots in the wild. If you want to hunt black Bears, grizzlies, huge elk, goats, wolves, lynx as well as trying your hand at trapping, this is the place for you. "It is a family run, big game hunting operation. We have been around for over a decade. My father was an outfitter and well known trapper back in the prairies, so we grew up with it. I started hunting at 11 years of age, I was with him all that time and harvested a lot of great animals. I learned a lot from him. He died when I was 16 but it was so deep in our family and our roots, that I decided it would become my goal to follow in his footsteps. I left that lifestyle for a while and went into the city and pursued a high tech, security industry. I had a very successful business but at the end, the call of the Bush was there, so we sold the business and bought our first guide territory a decade ago. I actually moved back into the territory where my grandfather had immigrated in the early 1900s, north of Prince George, and had hunted black bear and moose in the early 1800s. My grandfather was actually and educated man, had gone to university in California, and then he left and came north and pioneer homesteaded that area. He logged it all by hand, felled the trees, built a sawmill, cut the lumber.
