Big Gains For Super Bowl & Earthquakes plus Harvesting Hydro. I’m Greg Martin with today’s Northwest Report.

The big game this weekend means a big plus for the food industry as a new survey shows the average Super Bowl fan will spend over $68.5 extra on food for the game. Chips, burgers, chili, beer...and all sorts of snack items. Kathy Grannis with the National Retail Federation says it is expected to pump billions of dollars in to the economy.

GRANNIS: The majority of their budget does go to food. There’s no question that food is a very large part of that special occasion.

It seems the earth may be trying to make its vote for the Super Bowl as several earthquakes have been rattling the west coast. A 5.3 magnitude quake was recorded off the S. Oregon coast on Wednesday. The quake was centered 170 miles off the coast at a depth of 6.4 miles. Authorities said there was no threat of a tsunami. A smaller 3.7 quake was recorded Tuesday afternoon a mile north of Amboy, Washington north of Portland. There were no reports of damage or injuries.
