AgriBeef Exports First American Beef and Pork to Myanmar

AgriBeef Company sent its first shipment of beef and pork to Myanmar — and is the first American company to do so. AgriBeef Executive Director of Marketing Jay Theiler says that it was at an international trade show that AgriBeef was approached about exporting meat to their country.
Theiler: “These trade shows there is always mulitple opportunities — this one happened in Singapore but I think that is really a testimant to the quality of our products and brands. We’ve been exporting for a number of years and we’ve just reached — Myanmar will be our 30th country. So the initial contact was made by the distributor with us over there in April. Since that time he has had to do work through a lot of local issues with the authorities about bringing in American pork and beef and explaining what the products are. It has been a real challenge but our first shipment is in the air and is actually arriving in Myanmar today. It is amazing the long journey it took to get there.”
In the next 30 years the Southeast Asia region’s is estimated to have their purchasing power of their middle-class to grow by 25 percent — which would account for about 80 percent of the world economy growth during that time.
