NEWHOUSE … “Both of us are delighted that the President is putting a lot of emphasis through his administration on the issue of reducing the amount of food waste, particularly highlighting that in this month of April.”

Newhouse says one example of how to cut food waste is with the prepared meals grocery stores sell …

NEWHOUSE … “But, that food offering as you probably have wondered about, you know they don’t sell it all so a lot of it ends up being thrown away, and we’re looking ways of how we could utilize those foods instead of just having them end up in landfills, but trying to help feed hungry people with them.”

But, he says they will look at many different to ways reduce …

NEWHOUSE … “There’s lots of different things like that that we’ll be looking at to see what’s possible. We do have to look at food safety. But, it’s really kind of looking at all the possibilities of how we can address this.”

In 2015, the EPA and USDA launched the first-ever national food waste reduction goal, aimed at reducing food waste by 50% by 2030.
