I'm Susan Allen. AgriBeef known here in our State for it's Snake River, St. Helens and Double R Ranch Beef along with it's state of the art beef processing plant in Toppenish sent their Corporate Marketing Specialist Alethea Prewett to the recent 10-day National Cattlemen's Beef Association Young Cattlemen's Conference. Here is her great take-away.

Prewett: "While we were in Chicago we had the opportunity to visit OSI and McDonalds. OSI produces a large number of McDonalds hamburgers. Obviously they are a huge customer of the beef industry. They take millions of pounds of trim and turning it in to hamburgers every single day. The conversation that we had with them was pretty insightful. A lot of talk about traceability and sustainability and so continuing those conversations throughout the supply chain is really critical so that both parties understand each other. I think sometimes our industry can become a little siloed so opening up those pathways of communication between end users and people supplying customers a finished product and producers all the way at the other end of the supply chain is critical to advancing our industry forward. Those two sides of the industry might not be on the exact same page, but it is trips like YCC and getting producers in front of people like the supply chain experts at McDonalds and creating conversations around sustainability and what that means for the entire beef industry that is going to help move us forward into the future."
