A new online resource, Wiki for Farmers, is a project of the WSU Small Farms Program and the Tilth Producers of Washington. Angela Anegon, Education Coordinator with Tilth Producers, says they wanted to create a place for farmers to be able to ask questions, get questions answered, and put their own organic and sustainable growing tips.

ANEGON: It mirrors Wikipedia as a free access free content encyclopedia sort of data base, but we encourage a mix of research based articles, farmer narratives, tips for farming; and it's editable by the community. We just wanted to create this platform for a full exchange of information on all our growers in the state. So, it's really that grower to grower connection, as well as a connection to those who are doing academic research at WSU, and other people and stakeholders in the sustainable agriculture community.

The state Department of Ecology has released a draft of proposed updates to the state water quality management plan for non-point sources of pollution. Ecology will be accepting public comment on the plan through June 5. In meetings held around the state Ecology has stressed that non-point source pollution is strongly correlated to land use, and that the plan concentrates on land use activities, including agriculture. For more information and to view a copy of the draft visit Ecology's website.

That's Washington Ag Today.
