Farmers are already preparing for the spring growing season - making the decisions they believe will allow them to achieve maximum efficiency and maximum yields. Luc van Herle -Director of Global Sales and Service - says equipment decisions can have a big impact on agronomic performance. According to van Herle there has recently been unveiled a 4900 planter series - which offers significant new features that contribute to the grower's goals of productivity and precision during the planting season. He says the new design is based on extensive research conducted with the farmers themselves. "There is nothing in the world like 1st hand data. We ask people use these things every day, what do you like about what you have now, what don't you like about it and if you were designing your next planter, ideally, what should it look like. We incorporated just about every single thing they asked for and then some."

Van Herle says the 4900 planter has a new narrow transport front-fold frame design, 30-inch row spacing and a choice of 12, 16 or 24 rows - as well as additional features Kinze learned were important to the farmers. He says a new toolbar, new meter design and new row units make the 4900 planter one complete system that provides greater accuracy at higher speeds - contributing to superior agronomic performance. Van Herle says farmers are taking a hard look at agronomic performance - and from a planting point of view - several factors come into play
