Organic Culinary Pairings Event

I’m Lacy Gray with Washington Ag Today.

Washington Organic Week is September 7 through the 13, and for the last several years WOW, which celebrates organic agriculture in the state, has culminated with an evening of culinary pairings by organic craft breweries, cideries, and Theo Chocolate. Michele Catalano, Executive Director of the Tilth Producers of Washington talks about the popular event, which will be happening September 10 at Theo Chocolate in Seattle.

CATALANO: Our organic cideries are Alpenfire Orchards from Port Townsend returning again, and a brand new cidery in the state Sixknot Cider from Twisp, they’ll also be joining us. Breweries - it’s a similar situation with our wonderful supporters Elliot Bay Brewing Company returning, and then a new organic brewing company out of Bellingham called Aslan Brewing Company.

To add a little indoor/outdoor ambiance Catalano says that there will also be a food truck on the street.

CATALANO: It’s a great chance to hang out after work for a little bit with friends, hear about these great organic ciders and beers, and have the Theo professionals give you some information on pairings.

CATALANO: One of the nice things about Washington Organic Week is by having our “Eat Organic for WOW” pledge we’ll be having information out every day on our website. It gives people a way to be involved regardless of where they are in the state. We can help get the word out to all of Washington consumers that there is value in and importance in supporting organic farmers right here at home.

That’s Washington Ag Today.
