USDA has announced the National Institute of Food and Agriculture is making up to $31.5 million in funding available to help participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program more easily afford healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. In making the announcement Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack said "Too many struggling families do not have adequate access to nutritious food." He added; "Public-private partnerships with non-profit organizations and other community groups are already proving to have great success across the country. These resources will allow partnerships like these to help even more families."

The American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has released a new version of its popular My American Farm app for iPads, Android tablets and Kindle Fire. The app is available for download on iTunes, Google Play and Amazon. The new 2.0 version of the app contains six My American Farm games, including the newly added Power Up game. The new app also builds on the math-focused game, In My Barn, with a Pre-K level to draw in new users.

That's today's Agribusiness Update from the Ag Information Network.
