Scotty Cyr's out in the Idaho wilderness hunting with a bow. A bear is approaching and he's walking towards me and I'm just standing on top of these dead falls over a creek in the sun, wide open and he's coming and I'm thinking oh my gosh, he's going to walk right into me. There was one little 2 inch willow right between us and I said he's going to have to go left or right and whichever way he goes I am going to let it fly. He stepped to his left, I released and he took two spins, put his nose in the river rock and I was a lucky camper. Don't they have an incredible sense of smell and he was just curious maybe? Not at all. He didn't even know I was there. He was 15 feet when it all ended. The wind was really good blowing away from me down the creek the whole time. If it had been in the other direction he was smelled me for sure. So after I shot the bear, and he was a big bear, 300 pounds plus with a 17 half-inch skull. Black bear with a little white clump under his chin and I white V on his chest, just beautiful. I dressed him out and driving out, I ran into for young guys and I said, hey do you guys want to help me get a bear out? They said yeah sure."
