Had a great talk with good friend Scotty Cyr about a bunch of topics relating to an archery hunt where he ended up with a beautiful bear. He was reflecting on some of his hunting philosophy. " In your experience, is an arrow more lethal than a bullet? Yes. I've taken a few animals in time. I got a great elk last year. He went about 20 to 25 yards and it was over. If you hit them correctly and that arrow pierces through its devastating. It's amazing how quick it is. A lot of people say that the animals going to suffer but if you make the right shot it is over quickly. As quickly as a gun. Do you always bow hunt or do you use a rifle from time to time? I use a rifle a little but as the years go on, I enjoy the archery more and more. It's not so much about taking an animal as trying to get close to an animal. Sometimes, because I'm getting old, I ask myself do I really want to work this hard. Sometimes I don't even release the arrow. When you are young, you are full of vigor and then when you get older you realize how important it is to be smart out there and be conscientious of what you are doing. You don't want to take something and then waste it.
