Every time I turn on the news I hear a Pokémon hunting update. So I thought It would be a good time to share some new hunting and fishing updates for the west. Here is field reporter Susan with the report.

IDAHO Fish and Game discounts nonresident elk tags sold as second tags Elk hunters can double their hunting opportunity at a discount in August by buying a second tag to extend their season and have a chance to harvest two elk. Starting Aug. 1, Fish and Game is offering nonresident elk tags for $299 when purchased as a second tag which is discounted from the regular price of $416. It will return to the regular price on Sept. 1. Second deer tags will sell for full price this year. Second deer tags will not be discounted this year due to high demand, but will still be available as second tags for $301.75 while supplies last. These tags are available for residents and nonresidents alike, In Washington State, Okanogan County limited-entry deer hunt applications are due Aug. 14 Eighteen lucky hunters will have an opportunity to hunt for deer this fall on the 6,000-acre Charles and Mary Eder unit of the Scotch Creek Wildlife Area in northeastern Okanogan County. Hunters can submit an application for the "limited-entry" deer hunt on the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's (WDFW) website. Of the 18 access permits available this year, six will be reserved for bowhunters, six for muzzleloaders and six for hunters using modern firearms.. For Oregon, The Chinook salmon season on the Wallowa River will close July 24. According to Jeff Yanke, district fish biologist in Enterprise, angler participation is very low in the fishery. In addition, water temperatures are beginning to warm which will further limit catch rates and may cause considerable impact to the salmon.
