Old Fly Rod

Josh Mills hits the jackpot. What would Josh want to inherit more than a fly rod? "We were at a family gathering recently, and I remember my grandfather passed away a few years ago, he had some rods and reels but mostly it was gear stuff. So my uncle goes, here, check this out. He gives me this old rod with a dusty on the tube so I opened it up and it was a bit of gold. This rod had been sitting in the garage for 35 years and turned out to be a very nice St. Croix fiberglass, 8 weight fly rod. You can tell that the rod had been modified because I think my grandfather liked to use it for kokanee fishing up in Deer Lake in North East Washington. If you been on the net lately one of the blogs is called the Fiberglas Manifesto and it turns out there is quite a resurgence in glass rods, slower action. For everything in fly fishing that goes fast like fast graphite, boron, everything like that, there have been people who have been harkening back to the origins of the fiberglass rod as a counterbalance to the slower more soft and supple feel of fiberglass rods. My next project is to rebuild the rod and get new components.
