Longtime friend of the show and retired Fish and Game administrator Ed Bangs and I were on the phone reminiscing about a wild turkey hunt that he had been on. Just a fun conversation. "I went turkey hunting this spring around Helena. I shot a turkey there last fall with my shotgun and then I drew a tag this spring and spent a lot of time turkey hunting and I had a blast. I have hunted turkey in Hawaii maybe four times. You don't call them as much there, you stalk them because there are so many of them. But in Montana, I spent a lot of time trying to call turkeys. I had a hoot. A more experienced turkey hunter would have it gotten a turkey for sure but I had at least seven close calls where I called them in, they hang up at about 50 yards, or they would just come in and I could not get a clear shot because of all the brush but I had fun anyway, it was great. What were you using for a turkey call? It's called a little scratch. It's a little box that fits in your pocket with a wooden stroker on it. I haven't seen many like this. It's the size of a cigarette packet. It seems to work pretty good man.
