Return to Heber Valley

Not to repeat myself, but if you missed the story on trout fishing that I did last week I want to repeat a little bit of it with Julie Zycha who owns Fall River Flyrods with her husband. I met her at a sportsmen's show about a year ago and they were showing off some beautiful bamboo fly rods. They recently moved to the Heber Valley in Utah and Julie claims it some of the best trout fishing in the United States. We are lucky enough to have the middle and lower Provo River running through the Heber Valley and especially the middle Provo River has gotten to the point in the last decade where it has established itself pretty well as one of the top trout fisheries in the US. Middle Provo River is probably what it is known most for. What kind of trout? We have rainbows, brown's, especially, what people come here most for, you can see some cut throats here, a little bit of everything. It is a beautiful area and fish sizes run anywhere from 14 inches to 16 inches on up to 26 inch fish. That is easily in the Provo River. One of the things that makes the probe also wonderful is that there are about 3000 fish per mile flowing through. How is Fall River Fly Rods doing? Being here has been a wonderful move for us. The area, the people that live in the area can easily afford some of the fly rods that we sell and we get a lot of transient visitors that come through.
