Some unusual events during a Caribou hunting trip to Alaska. Our regular correspondent, Randy King told me about a caribou hunt he and some relatives took. "I was up in Alaska in hot pursuit of a caribou. We had a guy ready to go with us literally, you know that saying break a leg, well he did break his leg about three weeks before we took off. We had to emergency call in a favor from a cousin of mine and she decided that she was going to go so, we went to what is called the Dalton Highway and it is kind of the poor man's caribou hunt. If you want to talk about desolate and expansive, it was unbelievable. We saw musk ox, caribou, grizzly bears, and it up harvesting a caribou which was one of the highlights of the trip. The funniest thing happened. As we were sitting there with all of that meet back in camp, we were getting our mojo up to pack all the meat out. We hear a boat go by and my cousin runs down to the river and gives him a nice smile, she is a pretty gal, flags the boat to come over and the guy driving gave us a ride back just because she was nice to him. It was amazing. It turned out the guy with the broken leg ended up helping us out more than we thought he would by letting my pretty cousin go along. It's amazing isn't it? Whether it's in a bar or the wilderness, a pretty face always works. It does and especially up there. She smiled and that boat stopped on a dime, it was incredible.
