County Fairs

County Fairs

Now is the time for many county fairs, there is nothing better than watching youth who have worked with their projects for months, in the ring competing. Recently I was thinking about my many friends across the country that are 4-H leaders and FFA instructors — they too have been busy preparing their students for the fairs.
Spending and volunteering hours and hours to benefit and assist their club or chapters members. Also speaking of volunteers — what about the countless number of amazing people that year in and year out volunteer at their fair each year?
Do you have County Fair memories? The people that made a difference for you during your fair or for your children? As our world continues to become more and more busy and impersonal — I reflect on the old-time values that you can find in any fair’s 4-H and FFA arenas you might visit. Good sportsmanship, hard work, doing your best but always helping someone in need — stay for afternoon and witness it in action.
Another big thank you for the support of our small town business that continual purchase 4-H and FFA livestock projects at the fair auctions. Providing the financial reward for youths’ hard work with their project. Many of these auction supporters come back year after year, decade after decade to support youth.
I want to give a big thank you to all those who give so freely of their time, talents and treasures to benefit our 4-H and FFA youth. You make a huge difference and I sincerely hope you know that.
