Local Decisions and Local Approach To Improving Grasslands

The Savory Institute was created to improve the world’s grasslands through Holistic Management. One way they are spreading the knowledge and expertise of the Holistic Management practices is through local Savory-affiliated Hubs — these Hubs are regional in nature and are creating local solutions to land degradation, food and water security, and community empowerment.
Did you know that the United States’ first recognized Hub is located in our region? The Pacific Northwest Center for Holistic Management Officer Doug Warnock explains
Warnock: “We were in the first class — so to speak — of 10 Hubs formed. We started in 2013 - just completed that process and now this year, the second class of Hubs is in that same process.”
Each Hub partners with the Savory Institute in providing education, training, management and consulting. Warnock continues
Warnock: “The long-term plan is to have 100 Hubs formed around the world. Presently we have several in Mexico. We are the first one in the United States but there are several more in the new class. There is a Scandinavian Hub, one in Turkey, several in Africa, Spain. So they are spread throughout the world.”
This regional Hub offers livestock producers custom training, education, and consulting services. There are several upcoming workshops, go to pacificnorthwestcenterforholisticmanagement.com
