Yesterday we told you that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell revealed last week that Congress will not take action on TPP this year. Today comes news that the push is on to get Congress to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which would mean billions of dollars in exports and farm income for the United States. President Obama has indicated he will send the trade deal to Congress following the election, but leaders in Congress say they won't consider the deal. Wesley Spurlock is the incoming President for the National Corn Growers Association. At the 2016 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa, he says NCGA is working to move past the anti-trade rhetoric by leaders in Congress and others.

Elsewhere, according to myNorthwest.com, the killing of a pack of wolves in northeastern Washington in an effort to protect cattle is producing death threats for people on both sides of the issue.

Also,hop harvesting in the Yakima Valley is underway and growers are expecting a record 91.8 million pounds in the Northwest this year.

Finally, Idaho wants to take over regulating pollution discharge into the state's lakes and rivers from the federal government.
