According to recently reported data from the University of Idaho and Oregon State University, agriculture's economic impact to the Northwest United States is very large.

The data show that jobs in agriculture, forestry and fisheries were responsible for millions of dollars in sales across the entire Northwest. Agricultural economist Michael Stolp says the impact goes beyond just direct sales.

" Things like the indirect impact as that farmer goes and buys inputs. There's also something that is called induced impact as the people in the input supply company actually go out and buy groceries and eat at restaurants."

Stolp adds this proves the Northwest Agriculture industry has a great story to tell:  "More than $.12 of every dollar generated and one job in 10 come from these industries in the five state region that we serve which is, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Montana and Alaska. We can feel proud for what we represent to the economy." Of the entire $176.1 billion in sales in the region, 68.2 percent comes from agriculture.

Elsewhere, American Airlines told KIRO 7 that one of their airbus planes caught fire before it was scheduled to depart Sea-Tac International Airport on Wednesday.

in a statement that 151 passengers and six crew members were on board. No one was injured.

SeaTac airport spokesman Brian DeRoy says the Airbus 320 was scheduled to depart to Philadelphia at 8:10 a.m. when the fire broke out.

An Instagram user posted that the plane was about to take off and someone noticed smoke coming out of the tail.
