Most of us have our favorite grocery stores we frequent but we’ve also all price shopped for grocery items but is that good or bad? An expert says just because a supermarket has the lowest prices, doesn't ensure shopper loyalty and store success. Supermarket consultant Jon Hauptman says when stores focus mainly on price…

HAUPTMAN: They’ve quite frankly forgotten that it’s important to tell the story to shoppers so that shoppers can understand that these prices and values are available. In essence the ultimate for any retailer is they want somebody to walk into their stores and go, you know what? This store might not be the cheapest store in the area, however, if you are a smart shopper like me you can do real well here and I can take advantage of the things this store does better than anybody else.

The Food & Drug Administration has decided there is nothing wrong with apples that won’t brown or potatoes that don’t bruise. On Friday, the FDA approved the genetically engineered foods as safe, saying they are as nutritious as their conventional counterparts. Arctic apples and the Innate potato have now been approved. Both J. R. Simplot Co. and Canada’s Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. requested review since it was a voluntary process. Both companies are also aware there may be some resistance to their products.
