USPB Hosts Market Visit to Brazil

For more than 10 years, Brazil has been a target export market for U.S. seed potatoes. The United States Potato Board program work consisted of: variety trials, hosting reverse trade missions, and built relationships between U.S. exporters and Brazilian importers and growers. As a result of these programs, there has been a strong increase of U.S. seed potatoes exported to Brazil. Last year 675 metric tons of seed potatoes went to Brazil. Sarah Reece, USPB Global Retail Marketing Manager, shares
Reece: “To finish up the program work that we started there, the US Potato Board is organizing a market visit to Brazil and we are inviting U.S. growers to join us for this last visit. The market visit is currently scheduled to take place December 6-13 of 2014. During the market visit to Brazil, the group will be able to meet Brazilian growers in different areas throughout the country and these growers are interested in U.S. seed potatoes. The visits that we will be doing in Brazil will help to cement existing relationships that have already been built and it will help us to build new relationships. Sending chip stock varieties for seed potatoes to Brazil is the key to exporting to the market.”
