America's Farmers Grow Communities Invests $3.3 million

Now in its fifth year, America’s Farmers Grow Communities will invest $3.3 million in organizations throughout rural America. There are 18 eligible counties in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. There were 12 winners in our region last year: five in Idaho, five in Washington and two in Idaho. Monsanto Foundation’s Customer Advocacy Manager Heather Wolfe explains how the winners are selected.
Wolfe: “It is a lottery system but it is one per county as well. So each county gets one winner so we will have 1324 winners this year. Everyone should get their name in because if we didn’t have a winner, they would automatically be the winner.”
So that means last year that 16 opportunities for farmers to win $2,500 for a local charitable organization went unused. We need to get the word out to eligible farmers in all of our 18 eligible counties —including six new eligible counties in our three states.
Wolfe shares how to enroll
Wolfe: “Enrollment is easy and all farmers need to go online to www.growcommunities.com, click on enroll now and its going to be a simple form that they need to fill out — with basic information about them and then which organization they think they may like to be give the money to, if they are the winner. The deadline is November 30th.”
