This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for July 25th. Feeders and Live cattle struggling over the week, but slaughter prices tying the seams together. Let's take a look at the USDA weekly national slaughter cattle report with Gregg Sanders.

Sanders "National slaughter cattle review for Thursday, this week we had 2350 head of feeder cattle trade compared to last Friday. Trade was limited on light demand on the southern plains of Colorado. A few live sales sold in the Texas panhandle, however not enough sales for an adequate market test. The latest established market in the southern plains in Colorado was on Wednesday with a bulk of live sales at $1.15. Dress sales compared to Wednesday sold steady to $2 lower mostly from $1.83 to $1.85."

Chicago Sept. Wheat prices closed the week up 7 ½, at 425 ¾. Sept. corn closed Friday up ¾, at 336 ½. Portland prices for soft white wheat of Ordinary Protein for July were up 7 ½ to unch, ranging from 5-05 ¼ to 5-18. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for July were up 11 ½, ranging from 5-04 to 5-14. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for July were up 9, ranging from 5-75 ¼ to 5-90 ¼. Aug Live Cattle up $2.42 ½, at 105.97 ½. Aug Feeder cattle rallying, back up $2.80 to finish the day at 136.92 ½. July class III milk was up 2 cents at 15-29.
