What should I eat?

I think we all know that eating fruits and vegetables are the best thing in the world for us. The conundrum for me, and I’m sure for a lot of you, is that when you eat just a piece of fruit or serving of vegetables, you’re hungry in about an hour. So this is about satisfying an appetite. What do you do? I asked Oregon State University professor of nutrition, Melinda M. Manore, who was awarded a big research grant by the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, this very question. “The data show that a low energy dense diet can be just as satisfying as a diet that has more processed or more energy dense foods and it, but one of the other things that we now know is that it is probably better to spread that protein out throughout the day and have some in each of your meals Instead of the typical American way which is often times to get the majority of the protein in an evening meal. We are trying to help kids and parents look at their plate and ask, what part will be fruits and vegetables, what part will be proteins, what part will be whole grains which can also be very filling and have a lot more fiber and fiber can be very filling and if you need a snack during the day, there’s nothing wrong with that but you can have an apple and maybe yogurt.
