Kathy Wilson is a researcher with the Idaho Wheat Commission and talks a lot about risk management. My conversation with her revealed some intriguing perspectives.

"When you have something that is visionary and really transformational, most people will not understand it because we are worried about what is happening today, maybe what's happening next month and maybe next year. We are not thinking, what are things going to look like five, 10, 15 years down the road. Having been a commercial plant breeder of a crop that takes 15 years to develop a new variety, that's how my brain works. I am looking at this saying, it helps that I have two millennial's as children. I can't even counsel them on, for example, how to get a job. I'm talking to my 20 something-year-old and I'm saying put together a good resume, dress up nicely, walk around, talk to people, show your face. He says, Mom, I just uploaded my resume on Indeed and I have gotten 15 callbacks already. I'm saying to myself, I'm pretty old school, sorry about that. Good luck son. It's a different world. We think they're different but they are not. They get it.
