A $500 reward has been offered through the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association (TSCRA) Operation Cow Thief  hotline for information leading to the arrest of an East Texas man who stole four head of cows from his employer, an elderly Carthage, Texas rancher.

This investigation is being led by TSCRA Special Ranger Larry Hand. Authorities have been searching for the suspect for three years and are again seeking help from the public in locating the suspect.

According to Hand, the victim was away from his property in Carthage for five days, and after returning he realized cattle were missing from his herd. Hand helped the victim file a report with the Panola County Sheriff’s Department and TSCRA.

Hand searched sale barn records for a wide area and found the suspect, Marvell Galloway, 57, of Carthage, Texas, had sold four head of cows at the Emory Livestock Auction on Feb. 19, 2013. Later, Hand checked bank records and found photos of Galloway cashing a check for the four head of cattle at a bank in Emory, TX.

Galloway is a black male 60 years of age, 6’-1” tall, 210 pounds, Black hair and brown eyes. He usually wears a faded black felt western hat.

Galloway was indicted by a Panola County Grand Jury and a 3rd degree felony theft of livestock warrant was issued on April 12, 2013. He has a criminal history in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. His bond has been preset at $30,000. Galloway’s crime may be enhanced to a 2nd degree felony for exploitation of an elderly person.

Galloway left the Carthage area prior to a warrant being issued and remains at large. Authorities are still searching for Galloway and asking for the public’s help in located the suspect. Galloway has been known to be in the Carthage, Talco, Mt. Pleasant, Clarksville and Dallas, Texas areas, as well as Southeastern Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Anyone with further information leading to the arrest of Galloway should contact TSCRA’s Operation Cow Thief hotline at 888-830-2333 or call TSCRA Special Ranger Larry Hand at 903-592-5252.  A cash reward of up to $500 may be paid to individuals who provide useful information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
