The Lindsay Corporation has a new, high-tech product called FieldNET Pivot Control that can be retrofitted to any existing pivot. Here's FieldNET Business Manager Reece Andrews: “You really open up the door for a number of new things that they can do. You mentioned agronomists. If they are working with an agronomist that is saying hey, instead of making that full circle 1 inch every time you irrigate, you have a lot of your field where you can just speed up and go through so we provide what we call a basic VRI 360. What that means is that for every angle of a pivot circle, we can actually change the speed of that system and put down more or less water in most pie sections. You can get as granular as 1° pie sections. People typically don’t have that many but we have that ability. So the agronomist that they are working with says hey you can actually speed up through these systems because we are going to get a little bit of run off anyway because of the terrain or it is the soil. In the agronomy software, they can just do an export CSV and then very easily do an import right in the field net and that professionalism that the agronomist provides in terms of the application of water to optimize the use of water and energy is just an upload click away from turning an old pivot that, every time when around in a circle, it put down an inch of water every time they did this over the last 30 years, it upgrades it to a modern precision instrument.”
