The hubbub over GMO foods may be resolved very soon. GMO’s involve what is called Transgenics…of, relating to, or containing a gene or genes transferred from another species. The goal of transgenics is to put traits like herbicide resistance into targeted crops. However, there is a company known as Cibus Global that is working on non-transgenic gene editing. Dave Voss, Vice President of Commercial Development at Cibus: While we do not insert any foreign DNA into the plant. Some people are looking for non-transgenic alternatives for food stock. There are also certain regions of the world that are non-acceptant of transgenic crops. Mainly Europe. We have a solution for that since we can offer similar traits to farmers with the benefits of a transgenic crop but it is developed utilizing a natural process. Are we tiptoeing around the fact that so many people are afraid of GMO foods and you are saying that this is not GMO all. That is correct. We have been reviewed by the USDA and they have determined that this technology is basically non-transgenic and therefore non-GMO. It is a pivot point in agriculture right now. We have learned how to harness the plant's natural ability to make its own mutations. Stay tuned.
