Not to disparage the environmentalists, the organic food producers and so many foreign nations who look at our foods, that we intend to export, through an electron microscope but, American farmers have done an absolutely fabulous job of maintaining safety in the foods that they produce as well as reducing their carbon footprint. When paired with responsible use, crop protection technology provides many benefits while still helping to feed your family. According to a socio-economic report completed by CropLife America, agricultural exports support $141 billion in U.S. trade balances annually with the help of crop protection products. The use of herbicides in support of conservation tillage also saves more than 550 million gallons of fuel each year, significantly reducing the carbon footprint of today's agricultural industry.

In terms of food safety? I talked with CropLife America spokesperson Mary Emma Young and suggested that our food supply was a lot safer than many people think: "I think it is showing that the regulatory system that we have in place works. We have a robust regulatory system, especially when working at the crop protection industry and making sure that our food is the best food available for consumers.
