Congress is still out on their August recess until next week and one of the main issues that needs to be brought to the table is the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank or Ex-Im Bank. It is crucial to get a long term deal done since it is vital to many northwest businesses and the export of their products. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris-Rogers from Washington talks about the importance of the reauthorization.

McMORRIS-ROGERS: The House is committed to moving forward. Washington State is the most trade dependent state in the country. One out of three jobs is estimated to be related to some kind of trade and that is a good thing for us. That means that we are growing. Whether it's our wheat, our potatoes. Whatever it may be.; peas, lentils. We are manufacturing. We are producing products here that we are exporting around the world.

And she says that translates into jobs for Washington and the northwest.

McMORRIS-ROGERS: The Import-Export Bank does expire at the end of September. I have a responsibility to also make sure that tax-payer dollars are spent wisely. When we reauthorized the bank two years ago, which I supported, there were some reforms attached to that reauthorization; transparency, accountability type provisions that haven't been implemented.

She says those concerns have been raised.

McMORRIS-ROGERS: And I am confident that come September when we go back into session after Labor Day, we will bring a bill to the floor in the House to reauthorize the bank and that we will will get it done with the Senate and on to the President's desk.
