Looking For Products. I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture.

Visitors from important export markets like Japan, China, South Korea, and the Middle East will be looking at Oregon agriculture up close and personal this summer and fall, according to ODA International Trade Manager Theresa Yoshioka. It's part of a two-pronged approach at marketing Oregon products.

YOSHIOKA:  We have outbound missions where we take our companies over to foreign markets. It's a good chance to understand the market environment of where the products will be sold. But we also invite companies here. Buyers enjoy visiting Oregon, especially in the summer.

Getting international buyers on Oregon's home turf allows them to see what is produced, how it is produced, and gets a relationship started with potential sellers. For Oregon producers and processors, there is equal value.

YOSHIOKA:  We are bringing lots of opportunities to Oregon companies to better understand international markets, better understand exporting, and make initial contact with buyers who are interested in products that we have to offer.

Right now, the hot products include fruits of all kinds, especially Oregon berries, along with nursery stock and specialty or gourmet foods. In addition to bringing buyers to Oregon, ODA is planning outbound trade missions in the coming months– taking Oregon companies and their products to Australia, Europe, and Asia.

That's today's Line On Agriculture. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
