How's is the Farm Bill Implementation Going? I'm Greg Martin with today's Line On Agriculture.

The farm bill. We tend to talk about it kind of casually but it is a very big set of complicated programs. Once the USDA got the farm bill passed it did not just automatically go into effect since it is made up of so many different parts and pieces and in fact it may take some time yet to get all of the farm bill put into motion. Chuck Conner of the National Council of Farmer Cooperatives and former Secretary of Ag feels that so far things have been going pretty well.

CONNER: Once done, implementation really has to happen well and it has to happen quickly. So far, I think USDA has done a pretty good job of that. The programs that directly benefit co-ops I think are being ministered and put into place in a reasonable fashion.

Jon Doggett of the National Corn Growers Association says there are some new parts to the farm bill that people will have to get in and understand.

DOGGETT: I think that it has much better acceptance than it did when we maybe first started talking about it. The conservation compliance with the crop insurance is going to be something new for some folks.
