The Federal Crop Insurance Corporation, operating through the Risk Management Agency, has announced its intent to award approximately $2,000,000 to fund the Risk Management Education Partnerships Program according to Jo Lynne Seufer, Risk Management Specialist.

SEUFER: These partnerships provide funding for the development of crop insurance education and risk management training programs. We at RMA look at five primary areas of risk. That'd be production, financial, marketing, legal, and human resource. And these include a broad range of risk management training activities. They're eligible for consideration under each RMA funding opportunity.

She says the recent passage of the farm bill also expanded the list to include farm financial benchmarking efforts.

SEUFER: That training can also focus on educating farmers for the federal crop insurance program and options resulting as the farm bill provisions were set forth by Congress at the earlier part of the year.

Seufer talks about who is eligible.

SEUFER: Eligibility would include universities, county cooperative extensions, non-profit organizations and also of course our community and state colleges and minority colleges as well. There are a few more added components that will be part of the software application process this year versus what was in there last year, but it's going to be pretty similar to what last year's was.
