There are still a lot of questions to be answered with the new farm bill. Chris Clayton with DTN talks about the choices that have to be made in the coming months by ag producers and as to whether there are too many variables.

CLAYTON: That's kind of really a question that I would like to find out down the road is - and I think generally what you are going to have is a lot of regionalization. Farmers in the south, they prefer the target price program. Farmers in the midwest may like the revenue program. Farmers out farther west may be a little more split on the situation depending on what their basis is.

Clayton says that one of the objectives for Congress was to keep it simple.

CLAYTON: I don't think they necessarily achieved that with the bill they came up with because you're going to have to look at where you're comfortable with your individual crop insurance. You're going to pick a program whether it is a crop insurance program or a commodity program that will be based upon what your county price triggers and income triggers are and hopefully all of these pieces that you put together - you don't end up finding a crack somewhere that puts you with some losses you didn't foresee.

Tomorrow we'll talk more about the new farm bill and some of the other programs included.

That's today's Line On Agriculture. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
