State Beef Councils Working Hard for Beef Checkoff Investors

Each year Agri Beef partners with state beef councils across the region to help promote one of the greatest proteins on earth-beef!

Jarad Brackett is a rancher from Filer, Idaho and he's also Secretary/Treasurer of the Cattlemen's Beef Board.

He says state beef councils are doing a lot of good with the 50 cents of every $1 per head collected from the beef checkoff program that stays at home.

"They are part of that three-legged stool as far as I'm concerned" said Brackett. "You have to have local grassroots support and control of that money. That 50 cents that stays in the state and the state beef council decides what they want to do with it is one of the most important parts of the overall beef checkoff program. It allows the producer to feel they have control over where their money is being spent. Not everyone can serve on the Cattlemen's Beef Board or the Federation of State Beef Councils, but everyone knows someone in their state who's involved with their state beef council. It's an important part and it's a necessary part."
