It is half way through the winter and the Idaho high country is beginning to build up snowpack. At North Shore Lodge on Warm Lake resort manager Tawanee Robinson talks about the snow. “Surprisingly awesome. I think maybe 4 inches out there.” 36 miles deeper into Idaho’s backcountry, sits Yellow Pine. It's one of Idaho’s most interesting, historic communities. The best way to get there in January is on a snowmobile. The only business that is open in winter is the Yellow Pine Tavern. The sole proprietor is Buddy Bowman. “I’m the director of entertainment, vice president of engineering, dishwasher, head chef, special events coordinator and that’s it.” There are about 30 people living in Yellow Pine during the winter months. In the summer there are about 200. It’s a Friday night at the Tavern and that means karaoke which Darwin DuBois enjoys. And so does Steve Bittenbender.

In summary, even though wherein a tiny rural town, the entertainment is great and the snow is flying which is good for summer irrigation.
