Sheep producers of the West Central states recently met. Outgoing Woolgrowers of Idaho President Harry Solon said the states' combining together is a numbers game: "in the past we have had shrinking numbers of sheep producers but our interests and our goals are all the same. The best part of the whole thing is, with our common problems and our common goals, that we can get together and share ideas and put a great convention together like this one. We will probably have 400 people at the convention where normally, each of us on our own, we might be only able to put 150 together." Common problems are many but federal land issues where the hot topic this year along with lamb and wool markets. "We have a number of federal lands issues that we all can combine our thoughts on. It has been tremendous for us to get together and join our forces. It brings more lamb buyers and more wool buyers in to meet with us."
