The Idaho Cattle Association strongly opposes a monument designation for The Boulder White Cloud Mountains. They have a link in their newsletter that takes you to www.ourboulderwhiteclouds.com where you will read the following: “The Boulder White Cloud Mountains are one of Idaho’s greatest treasures.  A treasure that is well managed, just the way it is, for today and future generations.  It is an outdoor paradise currently enjoyed by hikers, fishers, mountain bikers, motorized  and non-motorized recreationists, campers and more. Currently, the Boulder White Clouds are being considered for designation as a national monument by the Obama Administration.  While this has been widely publicized as a move to simply protect the land, it also carries the potential of drastically changing how the Boulder White Clouds are currently managed and how they may be accessed by all. Gov. Otter doesn’t mince many words when it comes to this subject: “Do you want to turn this over to the federal government? That is the same government that is printing your money. You see what has happened to the value of our money. Do you want them printing the deeds to the land in Idaho? Do you want them deciding what the value of the lands are in Idaho? I don’t think they understand wilderness or not being able to utilize all the lands and the resources that are available to them. Mostly in this case, for recreation. It is an overreach that is indicative of the federal government. Any time they pass a new law or a new rule for new national policy, it is always an overreach and it is always about control. That is exactly what they want, they want control.
