Optimism in Idaho's wheat markets. That's good for everybody. Talked with Blaine Jacobson Executive Director of the Idaho Wheat Commission about what is going on with wheat right about now and it's pretty good news.

We're pleased to see the 4 percent increase when we were out doing our cereal schools in February we were hearing from growers that they were thinking of increasing their spring wheat acreage as they scan the various crop prices Spring wheat was at that time, one of their more attractive options and it looks like got played out that way. So the spring wheat acreage is up and fallow acreage is up a little bit too which is good. You know we're up a little bit higher in Idaho than either Oregon or Washington and I think it's a reflection of the good crop price last year and attractive pricing as they look at this coming year or at least you know I wouldn't say that it's the best crop pricing but at least wheat is more attractive than some of their options. And on the what are we it's looking pretty good too. We've got a lot of moisture throughout the winter throughout the state in fact to the point where it gets tiresome right now waiting for the snow to get off a mile of field so that spring work can be done. But just excellent moisture that is going to help winter wheat.
