People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, better known as PETA, filed an Endangered Species Act lawsuit in Baltimore federal court alleging that the unaccredited Tri-State Zoological Park harms two lemurs, five tigers and a lion by displaying them in "decrepit enclosures" without appropriate companionship or proper enrichment, food, potable water and shelter. I called Will Coggin from PETAKillsAnimals.com: I got an e-mail saying that the Center for consumer freedom sent a letter to the Maryland state attorney urging for a full and thorough investigation of the animal liberation group PETA. there was a lawsuit that PETA brought against a zoo in Maryland and they had recorded testimony illegally meaning that officials had no idea they were being recorded. That is illegal in the state of Maryland.
