More on Merivon. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

We started a conversation with BASF Crop Protection Marketer, Nick Schweizer about the benefits of the new Merivon fungicide and one of those is growth efficiency.

SCHWEIZER: So what we are seeing is increase in photosynthesis so some of the things we've done is used we've used thing to look at the rate of photosynthesis once Merivon is applied versus some of the competition out there. What you see is Merivon enhances that photosynthesis rate so it's actually helping the tree to quality and more focus on those apples each day that it's applied so we're seeing those benefits as much as a week or two out.

Merivon is available for pome and stone fruit and is an effective fungicide. Schweitzer says you can see and read all about Merivon and all the other BASF products on the website agproducts, basf.us

SCHWEIZER: As we look ahead to 2015 our number one goal is to help growers with those issues around improving their yield potential and at the end of the day making sure they get those higher quality apples.

And Schweizer says if you have used their Pristine product, you should be looking at Merivon.

SCHWEIZER: A lot of growers out there have a lot of experience with Pristine fungicide. It's been in the market for about 10 years, it's done great and Merivon is sort of a new product that's being launched into pome and stone we're going to have all those MRL's lined up this year so our recommendation is that proactive application of Merivon fungicide.
