Technology is always going to make an impact on our lives, but how much can it change an industry?

Aidan Connolly is Alltech's chief innovation officer. His expertise is in branding, agriculture and international marketing. And he says, when it comes to technology and the Beef industry, some new tech is already changing the game...

"Sensors are a big deal. Sensors for movement, sensors for body temperature, sensors for feed intake and water intake. I'd see that being a big part of what we're going to see next. People are using robots for many many different things, not least the dairy industry for milking but receiving for feeding and beef cattle. I think that the potential for 3D printing maybe for replacing limbs on animals. Finally I would say artificial intelligence. The ability to make decisions in real time with the same sort of thinking that humans do... maybe a little bit longer term maybe 5-6 years away although there are some companies that they're already doing it."

Connolly recently told the NCBA, the way we gather data on our herd will be critical in the year to come.
