Everything you know about farming and ranching today - could be changing. Nothing is for certain, except that technology is always pushing the boundary of what we can do and how it's done.

Experts are already saying the nature of our farmers and of farming itself could be drastically different in just a few years from now.

Here is what some expert had to say about it at the alltech company convention recently.

"I think people we are looking at now is fundamental change in what that person is going to look like."

"Moving to armchair farming, making our decisions sitting in front of the computer."

"Farmers have to be much smarter and willing to work smarter and willing to work in an interdependent system a rather than being independent and be very focused on relationships."

To that end - some countries are starting to experiment.. A team in England grew and harvested an entire field of crops using only driver-less tractors and combine harvesters.

The Daily Mail recently reported - from sowing the seeds to tending and harvesting the crop, the robot crew farmed a field of barley without humans ever setting foot on the land... and as far as we know, that is a first.

Drones were extensively used to monitor both the crop and the equipment used.
