Spud Nation Adds Food Truck For DC area

Hopefully by mid-June, the second Spud Nation Food Truck will be working the streets in our nation's Capitol. Spud Nation recently hired new Executive Chef and Manager of SpudNation D.C. Alex Cooper. He has been involved with the Food Truck industry since 2009 — first as a food truck owner and more recently as promoter of food truck events. Cooper says he is really excited to be in his new role and for this opportunity with the potato industry.

Cooper: "It's such a unique product you have where you take such a huge versatile resource and sort of create unique new and different things. I am excited to get my hands on the menu, I really am. The guys here have done wonderfully well in creating a very good base menu and now I'm going to do some slight changes for D.C. tastes because it is a very different world over there. I'm really looking forward to the challenge and am just excited by the prospect."

He continues with some of the differences of the food culture of D.C.

Cooper: "I've noticed living here myself where there are a huge array of cultures, lifestyles and differences. So people are very, very open to hundreds of different cuisines and food styles. I've talked to the guys about what is selling well. I love the gnocchi dish that is on the truck right now and I would love to refine that into different kind of styles — probably make a little bolder flavors."
