Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.
Sanders: “Washington-Oregon Columbia Basin Hay Report for this week had a little over 8500 tons trade. Compared to last Friday, premium and export alfalfa was steady in a light test. Premium quality alfalfa sold $240 FOB on a delivered basis. Alfalfa good squares export hay sold at $213. Alfalfa small square bales for export basis also sold at $213. Retail/stable alfalfa hay premium small squares sold at $275. Oat hay large squares sold at $120 FOB. Wheat fair and good on a delivery basis sold for $85 per ton.”
In Idaho compared to previous week, premium Alfalfa was firm. Trade was slow to moderate. Demand was light to moderate with a very light demand on low quality supplies. Alfalfa large square rated premium sold for $188.64 per ton. Timothy grass good to fair large squares sold for $105 per ton.
In Oregon, compared to previous week, prices trended generally steady compared to the same quality the previous week. Some areas of Oregon received rain last week, with some hay suffering rain damage. In Central Oregon large square alfalfa bales rated good to premium sold at $200 per ton. In Eastern Oregon fair large square bales of alfalfa sold for $150 per ton. Harney County reported premium large square alfalfa sold for $245 per ton.
