Contest for Rural Fire Departments

Contest for Rural Fire Departments

Although last week had been designated Grain Bin Safety Week, like any safety awareness program — paying attention to farm safety is a year-round focus.
One element of last week’s activities that I want to be sure that our hard working and dedicated rural volunteer fire departments are aware of is a contest sponsored by Nationwide to award fire departments with grain bin rescue tubes and specialized training to help save lives when farmers and other workers become entrapped in grain bins.
Michele Tibodeau, CHS Enterprise Marketing and Communications shares more
Tibodeau: “So last year they had a nominate your local fire department to win a rescue tube and the associated training. They gave away one — this year they are going to be giving away multiples. So there are more opportunities for local volunteer fire departments in rural America to have the chance to win the rescue tube and training. And from CHS’ perspective we are really excited because this year, CHS Corporate Citizenship has made a $10,000 donation to Nationwide and the Grain Bin Safety Week to help fund additional rescue tubes and training.”
Deadline is now through May 31st to get your application in for your local fire department. It is a simple application. Just go to grainbinsafetyweek.com for more information and the official rules.
