Dairy Program Deadline Extended

Farm Service Agency offices across the nation are ready to help dairy producers who have questions about the Dairy Margin Protection Program. The deadline to sign up was pushed back until December 19th to allow producers more time to go over the program. FSA Administrator Val Dolcini says many producers were inquiring about the program just prior to the deadline that had been set for last Friday
Dolcini: “We’ve really seen fairly robust activity in the Dairy states in Upper Mid-West and we’re starting to see that in California as well. But again, I want to make sure that everybody who is interested in the program has an opportunity spending some time playing with the web tools and visiting with their county office staff and talking with their business partners and families and the like and we felt that an additional two weeks would help with that process.”
This marks the second time the deadline was pushed back. Dolcini says the county offices across the nation are ready to help answer any questions
Dolocini: “The folks who work in our county offices around the nation are really the backbone of the agency’s strength. It is the relationship across the counter that our county office staff have enjoyed for many decades now that represents the heart and soul of what USDA offers farmers and ranchers."
A recent Hoards Dairyman article urged dairy producers to at least review the program — as it is when you are in the midst of high prices that you should be considering what may help during future lower prices.
