History Colorado and the Department of Agriculture continue the tradition of honoring family owned farms that have been in business for a century or more.

"We as a state back in 1986 decided to start honoring those families that had spent a hundred years farming or ranching to recognize their contributions to our agricultural heritage our history and definitely our economy."

Jonathan Raab with History Colorado says the property must be owned by the same family and needs to still be a working farm or ranch today with a minimum or a 160 acres or gross a thousand dollars in annual sales.

The deadline for applications is April 30. To apply or learn more, please visit www.historycolorado.org/

Raab says it will be at least a couple more decades before the supply of century owned farms to be recognized in Colorado is depleted.
